The Florida Department of Children and Families has announced the opening of Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) locations in Citrus, Flagler, Highlands, Madison, Pasco, Volusia, and Wakulla counties. The program aims to provide food assistance to residents affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton who do not receive benefits from the regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Secretary Shevaun Harris emphasized that individuals who pre-registered online but missed their D-SNAP phone interview can visit the designated locations for an in-person interview. However, those who completed a phone interview are not required to attend in person.
The department will reopen pre-registration for residents of these counties who have not previously registered online. Individuals are encouraged to complete this step before visiting the sites for interviews. Online pre-registration is available at www.myflfamilies.com/DSNAP and will be open from the first to the last day of each event.
Here are the details for each on-site location:
In Wakulla County, services will be available at the UF Extension Office on Cedar Avenue in Crawfordville from November 15-17. Citrus County residents can visit the College of Central Florida's Lecanto Campus between November 16-18. Pasco County's site is at Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter in Hudson during the same dates.
Madison County's location is on SE Dale Leslie Drive from November 17-19. For Flagler and Volusia counties, residents should go to Ocean Center Convention Center in Daytona Beach within these dates as well. Finally, Highlands County will host its event at Highlands County Fairgrounds – Alan Jay Arena from November 18-20.
It's important to note that current SNAP recipients are not eligible for D-SNAP and should not attend these events. Approved applicants through telephone interviews will receive their EBT cards by mail and also need not visit in person.
Residents should only attend events designated for their specific county as services won't be provided elsewhere.
For further details or media inquiries regarding these events, contact should be made with the Department’s Press Office beforehand via email. Media interviews must be scheduled ahead and are available only on each event's first day.
