Governor Ron DeSantis continued his trade mission in Italy by visiting the Ferrari facility in Maranello. The Governor's itinerary also included overseeing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing in Milan between Florida International University (FIU), Insightec, Inc., and the Neurological Institute of Besta. This agreement aims to foster collaboration on innovative treatments for brain diseases.
During the visit, the Florida delegation explored potential partnerships in various Italian cities, including Florence, Maranello, Bologna, and Milan. Meetings were held with leaders from Tuscany and Lombardy Regions, key economic areas in Italy. Notably, Governor DeSantis met with Attilio Fontana, President of Lombardy region. They discussed plans for an MOU and agreed on organizing a reciprocal trade mission for Italian businesses to Florida.
“Our mission in Italy continues to produce results,” stated Governor Ron DeSantis. “In addition to building new relationships for Florida today with world-renowned businesses, we have also formed a partnership between Floridian and Italian institutions to share innovative research to treat brain diseases.”
Ferrari is recognized globally as a luxury sports car manufacturer known for its high-performance vehicles and advanced technology. The visit was intended to highlight Florida's role as a shipping and receiving hub for interested companies.
The Neurological Institute of Besta is renowned for its expertise in neurological research and treatment based in Milan. The agreement involving FIU, Insightec, Inc., and the institute will enable collaborative clinical research studies focusing on Alzheimer's Disease among other neurological conditions. This initiative is expected to benefit patients not only in Florida but across the United States and worldwide.
