Governor Ron DeSantis, on the fourth day of a trade mission to Italy, engaged with startups and businesses in Northern Italy. In Turin, he addressed Italian companies at the SelectFlorida Business Seminar, focusing on healthcare and life sciences industries.
Earlier in the week, Jason Weida from the Agency for Health Care Administration led Florida hospitals and medical companies to the MEDICA Trade Fair in Germany. The delegation joined Governor DeSantis in Italy for events centered on healthcare and life sciences.
“As a result of today, we’re bringing more business opportunities, jobs, workforce training programs, and apprenticeships to the state of Florida,” stated Governor DeSantis.
First Lady Casey DeSantis visited Milan's European Institute of Oncology with representatives from HCA Healthcare, Tampa General Hospital, and Mount Sinai. This visit aimed to foster relationships for sharing cancer treatment technologies.
“The more minds and companies we can bring together on our efforts to beat cancer, the better,” said First Lady Casey DeSantis.
Governor DeSantis met with MSC in Milan about establishing a direct shipping line between Italy and Jacksonville. Cosentino plans to open its first North American manufacturing facility in Jacksonville as part of this initiative.
“With Florida seaports serving as key gateways to international markets... FDOT is thrilled for the opportunity...to help show Florida seaports are open for business,” remarked Jared W. Perdue from FDOT.
Additionally, Governor DeSantis visited MAPEI and Pininfarina in Italy to discuss expanding operations into Florida.
