PortMiami and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) have reached an agreement approved by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners. This agreement allows NCLH to manage operations and maintenance of the existing Cruise Terminal B Garage, as well as develop a new Multipurpose Parking Facility at PortMiami. The partnership aims to accommodate increasing passenger volumes and address current and future parking needs.
NCLH has pledged to increase its guaranteed passenger movements at PortMiami from approximately 50 million to nearly 75 million passengers over the initial 30-year term, marking an increase of around 25 million passengers.
“This agreement highlights our strong and growing partnership with PortMiami,” stated Dan Farkas, executive vice president, general counsel, and chief development officer at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. He emphasized that with increased passenger commitments and infrastructure management, PortMiami will continue to lead as a world-class hub for the cruise industry.
“I want to thank Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings for their commitment to growing their passenger business while enhancing the customer experience at PortMiami,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. She noted that collaborating with partners and investing in transportation projects ensures Miami's global position as the "Cruise Capital of the World."
Danielle Cohen Higgins, Chairwoman of PortMiami’s Resiliency and Sustainability Committee, remarked on the importance of partnerships in expanding businesses efficiently. “By combining Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ and PortMiami’s resources, we can invest in infrastructure projects which will benefit the growing number of cruise customers.”
The planned Multipurpose Parking Facility will offer a minimum of 2,000 parking spaces and is expected to be completed by Q4 2028.
