JAXPORT is set to expand its global connections in 2025, following the dissolution of the 2M Alliance. The port will enhance its container services through new strategic partnerships with leading ocean carriers, ensuring continued global connectivity and access to emerging markets.
Starting February 2025, JAXPORT will see three major changes:
Firstly, the Gemini Cooperation, an alliance between Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd, will introduce a new direct service from JAXPORT to Cartagena, Colombia. This addition connects South American markets with the broader Gemini network, including ports across Asia, Central America, Oceania, the Caribbean, and Europe.
Secondly, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and Zim Line will maintain their direct Asia service routes to and from JAXPORT. Their improved Emerald/E-Commerce Express service will establish new connections for JAXPORT in Southeast Asia and South China. Ports such as Vung Tau and Haiphong in Vietnam; Yantian in China; as well as Cartagena in Colombia and Singapore are included.
Thirdly, the Premier Alliance—comprising Ocean Network Express (ONE), Yang Ming, and Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM)—will provide EC3 service via JAXPORT. This retains existing links between Jacksonville and destinations like Singapore; Colombo in Sri Lanka; Cai Mep in Vietnam; Laem Chabang in Thailand; and Halifax in Canada. Additionally, ONE has announced that JAXPORT will be part of its EC2 service calling at Northeast Asian ports such as Xiamen, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai in China; Busan in South Korea; alongside Manzanillo in Panama. These developments complement ONE's West India North America (WIN) service initiated in 2024 that connects Jacksonville with Indian ports like Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Hazira and Bin Qasim in Pakistan.
“The carriers’ decisions to maintain and grow their service routes through JAXPORT underscores the port’s position as a critical global gateway offering shippers seamless access to key markets worldwide,” stated Eric Green, CEO of JAXPORT. “The enhanced global connectivity offered by these new partnerships will benefit a wide range of industries including automotive retail and manufacturing.”
This expansion into new markets presents opportunities for businesses throughout Northeast Florida and beyond. With strategic investments in infrastructure paired with these updated services offerings—JAXPORT positions itself for ongoing growth success moving forward.
