The Florida Department of Education has allocated over $24 million through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP) to enhance workforce development programs. This initiative, led by Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr., brings the total funding for these educational initiatives to nearly $190 million since 2023.
Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. highlighted the state's commitment to career and technical education under Governor Ron DeSantis' leadership. He stated, "Under Governor Ron DeSantis' steadfast leadership, Florida continues to prioritize transformative investments in career and technical education. This funding is expanding important workforce education programs in high-demand industries, creating new opportunities for students across Florida."
The funds from Workforce CAP are directed towards creating and expanding workforce development programs that provide hands-on training in high-demand sectors for high school and post-secondary students. These programs aim to equip students with industry-recognized certifications listed on the CAPE Industry Certification Funding List.
Institutions receiving grants from this program will use them to develop Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The goal is to ensure students have access to essential tools, resources, and training needed to succeed in emerging industries and support Florida's economic growth.
