Steven Shelton has been appointed as the Vice President of Facilities Optimization at the Canaveral Port Authority. With over 15 years of experience in facilities management for top hotels and resorts, Shelton will now oversee a comprehensive maintenance program at the port. This includes managing automated systems, mechanical and electrical systems, security controls, fire detection, building maintenance, and more.
Captain John Murray, CEO of the Canaveral Port Authority, expressed confidence in Shelton's abilities: “Port Canaveral has a never-ending commitment to enhancing every aspect of our operations and that includes our facilities, grounds, terminals, parks and so much more.” He added that “Steve’s wide-ranging hospitality-focused experience brings a fresh new perspective to our operations.”
Shelton's career includes roles such as Vice President of Facilities for Fountainbleau Resorts in Miami Beach. There he managed facilities for properties including Fountainbleau Miami Beach and JW Marriott Turnberry. His previous positions include Director of Engineering roles at Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida; Hilton Worldwide; and Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in construction management and an associate degree in civil engineering from Ferris State University. Shelton is also certified as an Energy Manager, Hospitalities Facilities Executive, LEED Certified professional, Pool Operator, OSHA 30 Hours Safety Certified individual, and holds Universal CFC Certification.
