The Florida Department of Education has reported positive mid-year progress monitoring results, indicating continued student success under the state's progress monitoring assessments. The latest data reveals that 45% of students scored a level 3 or higher on the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) Progress Monitoring second assessment (PM2) for the current school year. This marks an increase of three percentage points from the previous year and six percentage points from two years ago when these assessments were first introduced.
"Florida’s students continue to succeed at every level," stated Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. He emphasized that "progress monitoring provides students with faster interventions leading to better results." Diaz also expressed gratitude for Governor DeSantis' commitment to educational success.
In addition to these findings, Florida's educational achievements include a record high school graduation rate of 89.7% for the 2023-2024 school year. This represents an increase of 1.7 percentage points compared to last year and is noted as the highest in Florida's history, excluding the pandemic years when certain assessment requirements were waived.
