John Trevathan, Chair of the Florida Chamber Leadership Cabinet and Vice President of Corporate Services at GuideWell, initiated the workshop. He emphasized leadership's crucial role in creating safer and healthier work environments. Mark Morgan, a former Senior Human Resources Manager at NextEra Energy, Inc., and author of "The M.A.D. Safety Book for Leaders," conducted a session on proactive safety leadership. He discussed ways organizations can cultivate robust safety cultures.
Dr. Heather Flynn from FSU College of Medicine led an afternoon session focused on integrating mental health into workplace culture using data-driven strategies. Her presentation encouraged discussions about supporting employee well-being and implementing effective mental health initiatives within businesses.
The workshop highlighted an increasing need for leadership-driven approaches to workplace safety and mental health. The event was made possible by host sponsor Florida Blue.
