The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is inviting public input on potential options for regulated black bear hunting in the state. A virtual public meeting is scheduled for March 13 at 6 p.m. EDT. Interested individuals can join the meeting by visiting MyFWC.com/Hunting and selecting “Florida black bear.” Comments can also be submitted via email to BearComments@MyFWC.com.
During its December 2024 meeting, the FWC's Bear Management Program provided a five-year update on the implementation of the 2019 Florida Black Bear Management Plan. The update included recent efforts in bear management and research. Following this presentation, Commissioners instructed staff to present options for a possible bear hunt at a future Commission meeting.
