Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrest of Juantavis Lavonte Hudson, owner of Amirah Healthcare LLC, a Medicaid-funded home and community services provider. The arrest was made by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit with help from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Hudson is accused of submitting false claims to Medicaid for services not provided, resulting in a loss exceeding $50,000.
"This defendant fraudulently billed Florida taxpayer-funded Medicaid tens of thousands of dollars," said Attorney General James Uthmeier. "Thanks to the work of our law enforcement partners and the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, he will face up to 30 years in prison."
Concerns about Hudson's billing practices were first raised in March 2024 by parents of a Medicaid recipient. They reported that services were billed on dates when none were provided. Further investigation confirmed that Hudson billed for unrendered services to three recipients, resulting in a total loss of $53,201.34.
Hudson is charged with one count of Medicaid Provider Fraud over $50,000, classified as a first-degree felony. The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit under an agreement with the State Attorney's Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit.
The Florida Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit focuses on investigating and prosecuting providers who defraud the state's Medicaid program through fraudulent billing practices. It also addresses allegations of patient abuse, neglect, and exploitation in facilities funded by Medicaid.
