The Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) has announced that its CEO, Emmett Reed, has been included in the inaugural 50 Over 50 list created by the News Service of Florida. This list acknowledges influential Floridians over the age of 50 who have had a significant impact on the state's future through leadership and service. Honorees come from diverse fields such as health care, business, policy, and education.
Reed stated, "To be recognized among Florida’s most influential leaders is deeply humbling. This honor reflects the incredible people I’ve had the privilege to lead and learn from." He added that his guiding philosophy has been to "serve with passion, surround yourself with great minds, and stay focused on your mission."
The award ceremony, held in Tallahassee, featured speeches from state Senator Tina Polsky, state Representative Sam Garrison, Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd, and senior writer Dara Kam from the News Service of Florida.
Reed has been with FHCA since 2009 and has played a pivotal role in strengthening the association, which now represents over 86% of Florida's nursing centers. He is known for his skills in uniting members and advancing legislative priorities. One of Reed’s most notable accomplishments was receiving the Circle of Excellence Award from FHCA, which is the organization’s highest honor.
In addition to his duties at FHCA, Reed serves on a national level as Secretary/Treasurer for the Affiliate of State Health Care Association Executives and holds a position on the Council for Post-Acute Care with the American Health Care Association.
