Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) recently recognized outstanding individuals in the long-term care sector during its Annual Conference & Trade Show held in Orlando, Florida. The 2025 Long Term Care Achievement Awards honored those who have shown dedication to quality care for residents and staff.
Danette Wiley was named FHCA’s 2025 Volunteer of the Year. With over two decades of service at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center, Wiley spends more than 15 hours weekly volunteering. She is praised for her hands-on dedication and has involved her family in her volunteer work, creating intergenerational bonds within the community.
Gloria Baines of Avante at Ocala received the title of FHCA’s 2025 Joe Negron Resident of the Year. As a resident for seven years, Baines has contributed significantly to daily activities and serves as Resident Council President. Her advocacy ensures meaningful activities for her peers.
Erica Henderson, Executive Director at Middleburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, was awarded FHCA’s 2025 Nursing Home Administrator of the Year. Known for her leadership, Henderson has led her center to achieve a Five Star Rating and Joint Commission accreditation while maintaining a deficiency-free record on surveys.
Lucille Bowers, Administrator at Robert H. Jenkins Jr. State Veterans Domiciliary Home, earned FHCA’s 2025 Assisted Living Facility Administrator of the Year award. With nearly four decades of experience, Bowers is recognized for guiding her facility through COVID-19 challenges without relying on agency personnel.
Shedena Alexander from Island Lake Center was honored with FHCA's 2025 Life Enrichment Award for activities professionals. Her career began as a CNA before moving into activity certification where she designs inclusive programs fostering connections among residents.
Misty Kingsley from Avante at Ormond Beach received FHCA’s 2025 Compassion in Action Award for social services professionals. Kingsley manages complex caseloads while prioritizing resident well-being and founded the National Long Term Care Social Services Association in Orange County.
Joanne Rossi from Sabal Palms Health Care Center was named a Shining Star by earning FHCA’s 2025 Food and Nutrition Services Leader award. Starting as a dietary aide, Rossi now leads dining services ensuring meals are nourishing and meaningful.
Alan Turner from Robert H. Jenkins State Veterans’ Domiciliary received FHCA’s 2025 Plant Operations Impact Award. With over three decades of service, Turner has been instrumental in building maintenance and emergency preparedness efforts.
