The Miami metropolitan area added 21,900 private sector jobs over the year in July 2025, according to an announcement from FloridaCommerce. This figure represents a 1.9% increase and is the second-highest job gain among all metro areas in the state.
The report shows that Miami led all metro areas in job gains within the trade, transportation and utilities sector, which grew by 7,400 jobs. The construction sector added 4,500 jobs, while financial activities increased by 2,900 positions. The education and health services sector also expanded with an additional 5,200 jobs.
Miami’s unemployment rate remained steady at 2.8% compared to the previous year. The area’s labor force increased by 8,265 people, a rise of 0.6%.
Statewide data indicate continued growth for Florida’s economy. In July 2025, Florida added 7,300 jobs over the month and saw total private sector employment rise by 118,900 jobs (1.4%) over the year. According to FloridaCommerce: “Florida’s employment continues to increase, adding 7,300 jobs over the month in July 2025. Florida’s total private sector employment increased by 118,900 (+1.4%) over the year in July 2025, underscoring Florida’s reputation as a national economic powerhouse.”
Florida’s private sector job growth rate has surpassed the national average for most of the past four years—50 out of the last 52 months since April 2021. In July alone, notable statewide job gains were recorded in financial activities (up by 5,200), leisure and hospitality (up by 1,600), and government (up by 1,600).

Since May 2020, employers across Florida have added jobs in all but four months out of a total of sixty-three months measured. The state unemployment rate was reported at 3.7% for July and has stayed below the national level for nearly five years—57 consecutive months since November 2020.

Additional initiatives include Apprentice Florida for expanding apprenticeship programs; Veterans Florida to assist military veterans transitioning into civilian roles; and specialized support for military families through advocacy programs and license reciprocity tools.
According to data from July, there are more than 408,000 job postings available online across Florida. Job seekers can utilize these resources to improve their employability through resume assistance and customized career training.
