The West Palm Beach metro area saw an increase of 8,900 private sector jobs, or 1.4 percent, over the year in July 2025, according to data released by FloridaCommerce. The education and health services sector led job gains with 4,000 new positions.
The region’s labor force grew by 3,117 people, a rise of 0.4 percent compared to the previous year. The unemployment rate for the area was reported at 4.1 percent in July 2025, up from 3.8 percent in July 2024.
Statewide, Florida added 7,300 jobs during July and recorded a total private sector employment increase of 118,900 jobs (1.4 percent) over the past year. Officials noted that Florida’s private sector job growth rate has surpassed the national average for most months since April 2021.
Industries contributing most to statewide job growth in July included financial activities with an addition of 5,200 jobs; leisure and hospitality with a gain of 1,600 jobs; and government also adding 1,600 positions.
Florida employers have expanded their workforce in nearly every month since May 2020—adding jobs in all but four months out of the last sixty-three. The state’s unemployment rate stood at 3.7 percent in July and has remained below the national average for fifty-seven consecutive months since November 2020.
Job seekers can access several resources through state-supported programs such as Employ Florida—a platform connecting individuals to job opportunities and training—and CareerSource Florida’s network of local career centers offering personalized support including resume assistance and skills assessments.
Additional initiatives include Apprentice Florida to expand apprenticeship options across industries; Veterans Florida for military veterans transitioning into civilian roles; the Military Family Employment Advocacy Program supporting active-duty families; and tools like the Military Spousal License Reciprocity Matrix aimed at helping spouses transfer professional licenses after relocating to Florida.
The state reports more than 408,000 available jobs posted online as of July. Residents seeking employment are encouraged to use these no-cost services provided through CareerSource Florida centers to improve employability skills such as resume writing and interviewing.
Reports for other regions—including Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, Southwest Florida and Tampa—are also available alongside West Palm Beach’s data on regional employment trends via official state channels.
