The Orlando metropolitan area recorded the highest number of private sector job gains among all metro areas in Florida for July 2025, according to data released by FloridaCommerce. Over the year, private sector employment in the Orlando area increased by 23,900 jobs, representing a 1.8% rise. The region's labor force also grew by 12,433 people, or 0.8%, during the same period.
In terms of industry-specific growth, Orlando led all metro areas in job additions within leisure and hospitality (up by 8,700 jobs), government (2,800 jobs), and information (400 jobs). The education and health services sector also expanded with an additional 6,200 positions. The unemployment rate for the Orlando area was reported at 3.9% in July 2025, which is a slight increase from the previous year's rate of 3.7%.
Statewide figures show that Florida added 7,300 jobs over the month of July 2025. Total private sector employment across Florida rose by 118,900 jobs—a gain of 1.4% over the year—reinforcing Florida’s standing as a leading economic state.
Florida’s private sector job growth rate has surpassed the national average for most months since April 2021—specifically in 50 out of the last 52 months. Key industries driving statewide job gains in July included financial activities (up by 5,200 jobs), leisure and hospitality (1,600 jobs), and government (1,600 jobs).
Since May 2020, employers across Florida have added new positions in all but four months out of a total of sixty-three measured periods. As of July this year, Florida’s statewide unemployment rate stood at 3.7%, maintaining its streak below the national average for fifty-seven consecutive months since November 2020.
